Adolescent Critical Reading Initiative (ACRI)
ACRI is an small group expository reading intervention built upon five premises: questioning the author, question-answer relationship, text structure, discourse community, and scaffolding of inferential questioning. The Adolescent Critical Reading Initiative moves students towards grade level proficiency in academic texts. Students are typically placed in this reading intervention for one semester during first period.
Ms. Renna was trained in the summer of 2014 by the creator of ACRI, Dr. Sharon Russell Ph. D. Ms. Renna currently coaches and supports other teachers in Muskegon County with implementing ACRI.
